Lying among the rolling hills of the Natal Midlands, on the banks of a tributary of the Umvoti River, Greytown is known as the ‘jewel of the Kwa-Zulu Natal’. The picturesque colonial town boasts gorgeous natural vistas of dense forests, fertile farmlands of sugar cane, and the towering mountains of the Valley of a Thousand Hills, providing a wonderland of nature trails and adventure sports. Outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to ample opportunities for mountain biking, fishing, hiking and bird watching. There are also several excellent game parks in the area where the ‘Big Five’ can be seen. With its beginnings in the 1850’s, Greytown is filled with historic architecture, and is also the home of the famous Battlefield Route, the largest concentration of war-related sites in the country. There are also several Zulu Culture and Heritage sites to explore.
