Camdeboo National Park

Camdeboo National Park is a captivating conservation area in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, encircling the historic town of Graaff‑Reinet. Established in 2005 and spanning approximately 194 km², the park lies on the southern foothills of the Sneeuberg Mountains, rising between 740 and 1,480 metres above sea level. s most iconic feature, the Valley of Desolation, showcases dramatic dolerite cliffs soaring up to 120 metres above the Karoo plains. The semi‑arid terrain is rich in Karoo vegetation, succulents, thorny acacias, and hardy grasses, supporting diverse wildlife, including springbok, kudu, mountain zebra, buffalo, eland and more than 250 bird species. Visitors can enjoy 4×4 routes, hiking and cycling trails, picnicking by Nqweba Dam, and guided nature walks.
