Alicedale

The small settlement of Alicedale is flanked by the Bushman’s River and lies between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. Offering the quintessential, picturesque small-town experience, between green hills and lush estates, the town is also conveniently close to several game and nature reserves such as the Shamwari Game Reserve and Addo Elephant Park. The town is a wonderful golfing destination as it is part of the nine-day Golf Tour by train, and is also home to the excellent Gary Player 18-hole golf course. History enthusiasts should not miss the opportunity to see ancient Khoisan rock art at the Bushman Sands Reserve. Visitors can also look forward to leisurely boat rides and sundowners on New Year’s Dam, and outdoor activities such as rock-climbing.
