Welcome to Platte
A remote jewel in the Indian Ocean, this island lies 130 kilometres south of Mahé, isolated from the rest of the Seychelles. Low-lying and almost entirely flat, it was named in 1769 by Lieutenant de Lampériaire of La Curieuse, who noted its unusual topography. An airstrip stretches across its length, the only interruption in an otherwise pristine landscape of swaying palms, seagrass meadows, and white sandy shores. Marine life thrives in the surrounding turquoise waters, where hawksbill turtles nest, reef sharks glide, and stingrays lurk beneath the surface. Aldabra giant tortoises roam freely, while frigatebirds and noddies fill the skies. Cycling and long walks reveal hidden coves, while snorkelling unveils a world of coral gardens and tropical fish. With no neighbouring islands or crowds, it provides an undisturbed escape.
