Welcome to Sainte-Rose
Located on the east coast of Reunion Island, Sainte-Rose is a commune bordering the Riviere de l’Est River with its southern boundary ending at the base of the spectacular Piton de la Fournaise, one of the most active volcanoes on the planet. Sainte-Rose is also the name given to the little seaside village within the commune. Popular sights include: Anse of the Cascades, a natural paradise featuring numerous waterfalls and a beautiful coconut grove; as well as Grand Brule, an impressive six-kilometre-wide volcanic plain. Don’t miss the church of Notre-Dame-des-Laves, translated as ‘Our Lady of Lava’, which miraculously survived the 1977 lava flow.
