Pomene

Stretches of white sand blend into blue lagoons along Mozambique's southern coast in the resort town of Pomene, known for its lush leafy vegetation and encompassing turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It is the antidote to southern Mozambique's more commercial destinations and has escaped the rush of development that has enveloped the country's far south – bringing with its five-star resorts and diverse tourism activities but also a less rustic and serene atmosphere. Pomene is a truly authentic seaside town, offering beautiful beaches, magnificent marine, bird and animal life, a pristine Pomene Nature Reserve and excellent deep-sea fishing. At the tip of Pomene Beach is Ponta Falsa, where visitors can see some amazing natural rock formations, as well as the remains of the Pomene Hotel, once a popular haunt of Mozambican high society, including ex-president Samora Machel.
