Welcome to Massingir
Massingir is set on the shores of Massingir Dam, which makes up part of the Great Transfrontier Limpopo Park. Created in 2002, the reserve united three separate parks in Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe and sprawls across a total of 35 000 square kilometres. This vast conservation area is a hub of biodiversity that protects over 500 avian species, as well as close to 150 mammals. These include elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and the most dangerous of all African animals - the hippopotamus. Besides acting as a gateway to the park, Massingir is also popular for houseboating and tiger fishing on the dam.
