Welcome to Mzimba
The small town of Mzimba is the capital of Mzimba District in Northern Malawi. It is home to the descendants of two ethnic groups - the Ngoni and Tumbuka people. Both these groups are traditionally pastoralists, and economically, the region still concentrates on agriculture and cattle farming. The vibrant Mzimba market is a great place to experience an authentic slice of local life and pick up a few souvenirs. A short drive from town you will find Viphya Forest, an excellent bird watching spot. Here you can glimpse exotic avian species such as Olive Woodpeckers and Red-faced Crimson Wings, as well as various mammals such as monkeys and antelopes.
