Mua

The small village of Mua grew up around a Roman Catholic Mission that was established in 1902, and is situated near the Dezda Plateau in the Dedza District of Malawi. The mission is housed in a beautiful old brick building and encompasses the Kungoni Centre of Art and Culture, which showcases the cultures and crafts of three local tribes. The Chamare Museum focuses on the lifestyle, traditions, and rituals of the Ngoni, Chewa, and Yao people, while the onsite art gallery exhibits their paintings and wood carvings. The centre also acts as a school for the woodcarvers themselves. The people of Mua are known for their friendliness - you can expect a warm welcome.
