Machaniwa Pan

Gonarezhou National Park, Zimbabwe

About Machaniwa Pan

Situated in Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park, Machaniwa Pan is a serene water body nestled just a few hundred meters south of the Runde River. The park is one of the last remaining wildernesses in Africa, offering an unspoiled experience of vast spaces and expansive skies. Although Machaniwa Pan is relatively small, it is a hub of activity for a variety of bird species. The surface of the pan is often alive with their movements. In addition to the abundant birdlife, elephants are frequently seen lining the marshy edge of the pan. This combination of diverse birdlife and wildlife makes Machaniwa Pan an excellent location for both bird-watching and wildlife observation.
