Itezhi-Tezhi Dam

Itezhi-Tezhi Dam is situated in west-central Zambia, on the Kafue River. The dam wall was built between 1974 and 1977 and is 62m high and 1800m long. As a result of the construction of the Dam, a small village grew. The hydropower station uses the dam's water supply during the dry season and has impacted the Kafue Flats ecosystem. Fish and wildlife populations have declined due to disrupted water timings and supply.
