About Bulembu
Perched in the northwestern region of Hhohho, Eswatini, Bulembu sits amidst a rugged mountainous landscape, just 10 km west of Piggs Peak and adjacent to the South African border. Named after the siSwati term for a spider's web, Bulembu is under the ownership of a not-for-profit entity, Bulembu Ministries Eswatini. The journey to Bulembu is as scenic as it is historic, traversing the ancient mountains via the picturesque Bulembu Pass. Once an asbestos mining hub, the town fell into disrepair when the market collapsed. However, it has experienced a revival and is now thriving with social welfare initiatives and various cottage industries. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore hiking trails, ranging from waterfall viewpoints to challenging treks up Emlembe, the kingdom's highest peak. Rich in biodiversity, Bulembu is a haven for birdwatchers, showcasing montane grassland and mistbelt forest species like the malachite sunbird and Knysna turaco.
