Melmoth

Zululand, South Africa

About Melmoth

Melmoth is considered the gateway to the Zulu highlands and provides tourists with a great base from which to explore surrounding attractions, of which there are many. This small, scenic town lies close to the historic royal homestead of Dingaan (uMgungundlovu), the capital of Zululand where the Anglo-Zulu War’s last battle took place (Ulundi), the Matatane Crocodile Ranch with its hiking trails and resident crocs and lions, Ntingwe Tea Plantations which produces some of the country’s finest teas and the mysterious Nkandla Forest, a rare example of high-lying rainforest and one of the best examples of a surviving mist belt forest.
