About Touwsrivier

Touws River, a charming railway town in the Little Karoo, is situated approximately 185 kilometres east of Cape Town and serves as a gateway to Route 62 and the expansive Karoo. Despite its initial association with the railway, Touws River boasts a picturesque setting at the summit of the Hex River Mountain Pass. The town is a hub for the world's longest wine route, Route 62, and is part of the national flower route, showcasing vibrant Karoo flowers from July to September. Touws River also features diverse vegetation, including fynbos, succulent Karoo, and rare renosterveld. Noteworthy attractions include the Loganda pillars, utilised for astronomical calculations in the 1880s, and the ancient San painting sites at Kaggakamma reserve to the north.
