About Anysberg Nature Reserve
Located in the heart of the Klein Karoo’s Cape Fold Mountains, the Anysberg Nature Reserve encompasses spectacular scenery and a wealth of wildlife. Vegetation is made up primarily of succulent plants and endemic scrub known as ‘fynbos’ (fine bush), while fauna includes several species of buck, Cape mountain zebra, jackal, caracal and other small mammals, and – the most elusive inhabitant of all – leopard. Roughly 180 avian species have been recorded here, as well as numerous reptile species. The reserve encompasses a number of beautiful hiking, horse and 4x4 trails, a plethora of archaeological and rock art sites and the Anysberg Dam, where visitors can go hiking. Camping and rental cottages are available.
