About Dwesa-Cwebe Nature Reserve
The Mbashe River forms the border between the two relatively small reserves which make up the Dwesa-Cwebe Nature Reserve. Nestled between rugged grasslands and the ocean, the undeveloped reserve is carpeted by lowland forest as well as grasslands and acacia scrub. Birders will do well to visit the reserve with its ever-burgeoning avian population. Game lovers can visit Dwesa to view red hartebeest, blesbok, blue wildebeest, eland, buffalo, warthog and crocodiles. Nature trails are the finest way to explore this reserve, offering superb views of waterfalls, lagoons and the Indian Ocean.
