Hopefield

The West Coast, South Africa

About Hopefield

Hopefield lies 120 kilometres north of Cape Town between the picturesque towns of Malmesbury and Vredenburg. Bursting with the bright colours of wildflowers and over 500 species of fynbos, the town has become famous for its delicious honey. The beauty of the Berg River and vleis, the wide open spaces and the sea being a short trip away make Hopefield an idyllic location for a tranquil retreat and a wonderful destination for hikers and mountain bikers. The town is the oldest on the West Coast, creating a rich history, and two of its original farms are national heritage sights. Other important landmarks include the gorgeous Hopefield Dutch Reformed Church and the numerous traditional reed houses. Make sure to see the stone-age fossil bones and human artefacts on Elandsfontein farm.
