Herrie's Rock

Perhaps the only graffiti in the world that has been declared a National Monument, Herrie’s Rock in Meiringspoort bears the carving of the famous South African poet CJ Langenhoven. A somewhat playful character, Langenhoven’s stories often mentioned his imaginary pet elephant, Herrie. It is this name that Langenhoven carved into a rock at his favourite place of relaxation.
