The town of Paarl has a rich cultural heritage, evidenced in its array of museums and arts and crafts stores. The Afrikaans Language Museum (Taal Museum) documents the development of the Afrikaans language through the ages; the Paarl Museum showcases the region’s historical heritage; and the De Poort Community Project, which provides a platform for artisans to showcase their products and a place for visitors to relax, be entertained and interact with local crafters. Arts and crafts centres are dotted about the town and range from glass-blowing and bronze casting studios to jewellers, leather makers and art galleries.
