About First Anglo-Boer War
The First Anglo-Boer War began in December 1880 when the Transvaal Boers resisted British authority as proclaimed in 1877. In March 1881, the British government agreed to a provisional armistice and, after some negotiation, an agreement was reached. The Boers accepted limited independence under British suzerainty and agreed to disband their armed force. Major battles included those at Bronkhorstspruit, Laingsnek, Schuinshoogte (Ingogo) and Majuba, and these battle sites can still be visited today.
