Spioenkop, also known as Spy Hill among Afrikaans-speaking South Africans, is a modest hill situated along the Tugela River, a short distance southwest of Ladysmith, South Africa. It gained historical significance during the Second Boer War (also referred to as the South African War) when, on January 24, 1900, it became the site of a notable Boer triumph over the British forces.
