About Postmasburg

Surrounded by lush greenery and fed by a beautiful dam, the scenic diamond mining town of Postmasburg lies 170 km east of Upington in the Northern Cape. The town boasts some magnificent nature and an array of unusual attractions. The Witsand Nature Reserve is a must-see destination, offering long, white beaches and dunes enclosed by the bright red ones of the Kalahari, famous for their eerie roar in the wind. The landscapes are ideal for adventure sports such as biking, hiking, and spectacular 4x4 trails. Blinkklipkop, meaning Shining Rock Hill, is a site of both archaeological and historical importance, as its soft, sparkling specularite has been mined by the Khoisan since 700 AD, to be used as a cosmetic and for traditional rituals. Other notable landmarks include the Postmas Diamond Mine and the commemorative Howitzer Gun Civic Centre.
