About Vanrhyns Pass
Originally built and designed by Thomas Bain, the Vanrhyns Pass forms part of the R27 between Vanrhynsdorp and Nieuwoudtville. This 9km pass ascends 595 metres to the summit. The Bokkeveld Plateau is at the top of the pass. Over 800 metres above sea level, the lookout point provides spectacular views of the Knersvlakte, the Hardeveld and the Maskam region.
