Pella

Namaqualand, South Africa

About Pella

Pella was once a sanctuary for Khoisan people who were driven from Namibia in 1814. It is home to The Old Cathedral, which took missionaries seven years to build and is surrounded by date palms, giving it a distinct Arabian ambience. Today, Pella is a true oasis in the dry Bushman land and an enticing stopover for tourists and travellers. The land is well-irrigated by natural springs, creating a fertile environment for figs, grapes and pomegranates, which thrive on Pella’s plains and hills.
