About Kokerboom Kwekery
Kokerboom Kwekery is a plant nursery in Vanrhynsdorp. The nursery specialises in succulents and especially in quiver trees. Mr Buys Wiese’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication enabled him to turn a problematic situation into an opportunity. By applying for permits from Nature Conservation, he collected and relocated millions of succulent plants from the farm Quaggaskop in Knersvlakte and the part of the farm that was registered as a nature reserve. Subsequently, these succulent plants were relocated to the Kokerboom Nursery in Vanrhynsdorp. Since then, the collections of succulent plants at Kokerboom have grown exponentially and have become one of the largest nurseries in South Africa. The nursery is now well known for its wide variety of indigenous succulents and its commitment to education and conservation. Today, Kokerboom Nursery remains dedicated to providing top-quality succulents and promoting conservation through education and research. The nursery offers educational tours for adults and children and works closely with universities to develop sustainable farming practices. Mr Wiese’s vision has helped shape the nursery into a succulent horticulture leader, and his conservation legacy continues to inspire generations of passionate horticulturists.
