Kaapsehoop Horse Trails

Mpumalanga Highlands, South Africa

About Kaapsehoop Horse Trails

Set some 1200m above the Mpumulunga capital of Mbombela (formerly Nelspruit), Kaapse Hoop is an amazing venue. Famous for its wild horses, which are a familiar sight in the area, the high altitude location is a mixture of forestry plantation and indigenous flora and fauna. The riding is challenging, some routes will see 1250m of climbing in 50km. The hard work is made worthwhile when you swim in the pools created by waterfalls, drink water from the mountain streams, experience the energy from the rocks forming Adams Calendar, (reputedly the oldest man made structure in the world) and enjoy the view across the Barberton Basin, possibly the site of the oldest meteor strike in the world. An abundance of buck and raptors can be seen throughout the area.
