Matjiesfontein British Cemetery

Matjiesfontein Cemetery, situated 10km west of Matjiesfontein in South Africa's Karoo region, is a historic site of significance. The cemetery boasts two prominent obelisks visible from a distance and is the resting place of notable figures like British Army Major-General Andrew Wauchope and English cricketer George Lohmann. Established in the late 19th century, it served as a burial ground for both British and Boer soldiers during the Anglo-Boer War and also houses the graves of early settlers and Matjiesfontein residents.
