About Lanner Gorge
Located in the far north of the Kruger, Lanner Gorge was carved by the Levovo River and is at some points more than 150 metres deep. Its rocks and walls are millions of years old, as evidenced by dinosaur fossil discovered in the area. Crocodiles, hippos, hyraxes, baboons, leopards and other small game inhabit the gorge, while elephants, buffalo and other larger game are common at both ends. A variety of birds live here as well, including the gorge’s namesake, the Lanner Falcon. Lanner Gorge offers a great vantage point for splendid views of the South African bushveld within the Kruger Park.
