Ongoye Forest

Ongoye Forest is a protected scarp forest located inland from Mtunzini in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, overlooking the Indian Ocean and the Nkwaleni Valley. Visitors can explore forest trails, enjoy 4×4 routes through varied landscapes, observe native plant life, go birdwatching, and look for rare wildlife within the reserve. Covering nearly 4,000 hectares, the forest is recognised for its rich biodiversity and relatively undisturbed environment. It is home to species such as the endemic Green Barbet and Ngoye Red Squirrel, as well as rare cycads, orchids and other indigenous plants. Its remote setting contributes to a peaceful atmosphere and a strong sense of wilderness.
