Ongoye Forest

This protected coastal forest contains a mesmerising mix of indigenous woodlands and patches of rolling grassland perched atop grassy hills overlooking the Indian Ocean. It forms a vital part of the Zululand Birding Route, celebrated for hosting an impressive 605 bird species, including the elusive Woodward's barbet. Amongst its inhabitants are the agile samango monkeys, baboons, mongooses, and the enigmatic blue duiker. Adding to its allure is the presence of the Zululand dwarf chameleon, exemplifying the rich biodiversity that thrives within this enchanting realm of nature.
