About Kaaimansrivier
The Kaaimans River is a river in the Western Cape, South Africa that flows from the Outeniqua Mountains to the Indian Ocean near Wilderness. The river is named after the Kaaiman, a type of monitor lizard that used to live in the area. The river was also called the Keerom River, meaning “turnabout river”, because it was difficult to cross by wagon. The river is popular for hiking and whitewater kayaking in its scenic gorge.
