About Sammy Marks Museum
Sammy Marks was an industrialist and financier and a respected member of Pretoria’s Jewish community. He played a remarkable role in the development of the Transvaal economy and its politics before he passed away in 1920. His home, Zwartkoppies Hall, is today a museum with its contents unchanged since those heady Victorian days on the South African Highveld. Dating from 1885, it is an excellent example of Victorian architecture, filled with an assortment of period furniture, photographs and memorabilia.
