Garden Route, South Africa

About De Vlugt

Situated halfway along the beautiful Prince Alfred Pass, Die Vlugt is a small historic settlement set just south of Uniondale. De Vlugt fringes the incredibly scenic Garden Route region of South Africa. The beautiful Prince Alfred Pass was built by Thomas Bain and De Vlugt is home to the Bain’s historical cottage boasting original yellowwood flooring. Visitors can enjoy rugged kloof and roadside river views; sample some delicious ‘melktert’, a local South African tart served at the tea garden; take a refreshing plunge in a rock pool; enjoy a forest-river walk; view rambling waterfalls, and discover an array of beautiful indigenous fynbos. Other popular activities include: picnics, hiking trails, fishing, swimming, and bird watching.
