About Dlinza Forest
The beautiful 250-hectare Dlinza Forest surrounds the town of Eshowe. The forest is easily accessible and visited by bird watchers from all over the world, who hope to catch a glimpse of rare bird species such as the Spotted Ground Thrush or Eastern Bronze-naped Pigeon. The forest is a treat to the senses. It fills the ears with a natural orchestra made up of the calls of Trumpeter Hornbills, Purple-crested Turacos, Narina Trogons, cicada beetles and more. Magnificent tree species and around 70 different species of butterflies thrive here, and those fortunate enough may catch glimpses of blue duiker and bushbuck. There are a number of walking trails, a gravel road through the centre of the forest and a wonderful aerial walkway 10m above the forest’s lush green floor.
