About Lady Grey

Shadowed by the Witteberg mountain range and lying in a region rich in sandstone, Lady Grey boasts several interesting attractions. These includes its fossil beds, San rock art, a beautiful Dutch Reformed Church, the dam built in 1925 with a natural staircase leading up to its 25m high wall, and the Joubert Pass, which is the third highest pass in the country and offers fantastic views of river gorges and mountains. Visitors can also enjoy fly-fishing in crystal clear streams, watching performances at The Arts Academy, viewing historical sites and going on cultural and botanical tours around town. A popular trail explores the Karnmelkspruit gorge and takes visitors to the Cape Vulture Sanctuary.
