Double Mouth Nature Reserve

Eastern Cape Beaches, South Africa

About Double Mouth Nature Reserve

Double Mouth Nature Reserve, with its coastal vistas, dolphin sightings, and breathtaking sunrises, offers an enchanting and family-friendly adventure destination where visitors can indulge in camping, hiking, walking trails, mountain biking, safe swimming, and diving. Scattered along the shoreline are remnants from the 1608 shipwreck of the Santo Espiritu near Black Rock, including "money cowries" (once used as currency), carnelian beads sourced from India over a century ago, and fragments of Chinese blue and white Ming porcelain. This unique stretch of shingle and sand is now affectionately known as "Bead Beach," tucked between Black Rock and the Quko River at Double Mouth.
