Alexandria

Eastern Cape Beaches, South Africa

About Alexandria

This small farming town – known as the ‘gateway to Addo Elephant Park ‘ – is separated from the sea by a strip of striking indigenous forest and the vast Alexandria dune system. Both the Alexandria State Forest and the dune field are encompassed by the Woody Cape Nature Reserve, which has been incorporated into the Addo Elephant Park and is regarded as a prime bird-watching site. Besides its breathtaking natural attractions and proximity to Addo, this friendly farming town is the starting point for the two-day Alexandria hiking trail, which takes in almost 40 kilometres of coastal dunes and woodlands.
