Moorreesburg

Die Swartland, South Africa

About Moorreesburg

This small farming town, roughly one hour’s drive from Cape Town, has been dubbed ‘the breadbasket of the Swartland’ for its prolific wheat production, but it is far more than just a farming town. Moorreesburg’s fresh country air and laid-back atmosphere, combined with scenic surrounds and a surprisingly large number of activities on offer, make it a lovely getaway. The town is home to the Wheat Industry Museum, one of only three of its kind in the world, while an excellent 9-hole golf course offers hours of amusement for those keen on the sport. Moorreesburg is also well-placed for explorations of the Swartland Wine Route, while nearby Misverstand Dam is ideal for fishing, boating and waterskiing.
