Lotheni Nature Reserve

Situated in the remote southern section of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, Lotheni Nature Reserve offers a range of comfortable self-catering accommodations, including chalets, cottages, and campsites, all with stunning views of the Lotheni River. The name "Lotheni" originates from the burnt appearance of the shale in the river valley, which you can explore further at the Settler's Museum, once the Root family's homestead. The reserve also boasts rewarding trails like the Eagle, Falls, Canyon, Jacobs Ladder, and the historically interesting Gelib Tree.
