About Battle Cave
Situated within a spacious sandstone overhang, Battle Cave is an exceptional example of well-preserved San rock art in southern Africa. Its most renowned "fresco" depicts two distinct groups engaged in conflict. The first group illustrates women restraining men amidst a flurry of arrows, while the second portrays wounded and dying warriors. A standout painting within this collection portrays a highly detailed and delicate image of a warrior in full stride, bow and arrow poised. Furthermore, an image captures a San warrior extracting an arrow from his arm.
