About The Rotunda
The Victorian Rotunda in Camps Bay, originally part of a hotel, served as a concert hall, ballroom, theatre, and exhibition space. It was a key part of Mayor James Riddell Farquhar's vision to transform Camps Bay into a holiday resort resembling Brighton, England. Despite plans for demolition in the 1950s, community protest led to its preservation and integration into The Bay Hotel.
