The Bookery

The Bookery provides and supports school libraries in under-resourced communities in South Africa. Since starting in 2010, the NPO has set up 82 school libraries in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Gauteng, distributing more than 326,000 books countrywide. Their goal is to create school libraries that are well-stocked with age-appropriate books and other resources, including a well-supported librarian or library assistants. Visitors can donate books by dropping them off at the head office in Woodstock, Cape Town. Volunteers are also welcome to visit The Bookery's offices to help with all the 'behind the scenes' activities that go into setting up and administering libraries around the country.
