About Koopmans-de Wet House

Koopmans-De Wet House was opened as a museum on 10 March 1914 and is managed by the Iziko Museums of South Africa. The house is located on Strand Street in central Cape Town and is a fine example of neoclassical architecture.

Extensive restoration has taken place at the museum and guests can walk through the elaborate rooms, stairwells, courtyard and halls to view the 17th, 18th and early 19th-century paintings and furnishings. The murals at Koopmans-de Wet House are acknowledged to be unique in their variety and use of skilful techniques. The museum is open Monday to Friday from 10h00 to 17h00.
