Auwal Mosque

Established in 1794 on Dorp Street in Cape Town, Auwal Masjid is the first and oldest mosque built in South Africa and has always been a stumbol of the struggle of Cape Muslims for the recognition of Island and their freedom to worship. Still in practice today, the mosque hosts weekly Thikr, Islamic series and Women's Monday evening classes.
