About Blombos Cave
Blombos Cave is a site of significant archaeological interest. Excavations here have revealed that Bushmen occupied the cave intermittently for the last 140 000 years. Fish bones found here show us that humans had the technology to fish at least 100 000 years ago. However the biggest surprise has been the discovery of small, perforated shells and an artwork that indicates the use of jewellery and abstract thought as far back as 75 000 years ago.
