About Amakhala Foundation

Amakhala Foundation is responsible for community and conservation projects on and around Amakhala Game Reserve. The foundation was formed officially in 2009 and has grown exponentially over the years. Environmental Education and Education and Literacy best sum up our many activities. The biggest part of our work is in the field of Environmental Education, where over 2000 people, young and old are afforded the chance to connect with nature. Often the children on this programme experience wildlife in its natural surroundings for the very first time. Amakhala Foundation supports education within the local communities by offering bursaries to 5 to 8 year olds to attend the nearby Sidbury Primary School, and provides all the funds required for the iJosi preschool for 3 to 5 year olds. Bursaries are made available to selected high schoolers and diploma students. Extended community involvement includes support of the Amakhala soccer and netball teams, strategic support to the Isipho Charity Trust who works with orphans and vulnerable children and opportunities for staff to attend training courses, such as the GBD Financial Skills course.
