About La Digue Veuve Reserve
Located on the beautiful island of La Digue, the La Digue Veuve Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary encompassing 21 hectares of wooded forest. The reserve is committed to providing a breeding and feeding habitat for the rare endemic bird species, the Seychelles Paradise Flycatcher. Visitors can follow the several walking trails and see the nest sites, watch the birds and experience the low-lying forest with an abundance of Takamaka and Badamier trees. The reserve also offers various other animals and plant species including the moorhens, fruit bats, and terrapins. Staff are available to answer questions on both the flycatchers and the Seychelles environment as well as provide guidance in locating the birds. There is also a small information centre offering books, leaflets and souvenirs.
