Curt von Francois Monument

The statue of Curt von Francois is located on the corner of Independence Avenue and Sam Nujoma drive. It was unveiled in October of 1965 during the 75-year anniversary celebrations of Windhoek and stands outside the municipal building at 2.4 metres, gazing down on Independence Avenue.

The statute reads an inscription saying "Curt von Francois ended in 1890 the first Compass route survey on 18 October" in three different languages namely English, Afrikaans and German.
