About Karasburg
In the scorching heat of southern Namibia's Karas Region, you'll find the small town of Karasburg, the primary hub for Namibian sheep farming. The extreme weather in this area can be relentless, with some days sizzling at temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius. Amid these harsh conditions, Karasburg is home to diverse wildlife, including kudu, springbok, zebra, caracal, and jackal. Once a mission station in the late 19th century, it transitioned into an administrative center during the German colonial era. While visiting this region, you can explore the historic Rhenish Mission Church, and engage in various activities such as hiking, bird watching, exploring Bondels Dam, fishing, and biking trails, along with a visit to the Karasburg Museum.
