About Pomona
Located in Namibia, Pomona was a thriving port and centre for diamond trading. With the decline in demand for diamonds at the turn of the 20th century, it became a ghost town but still retains some of its former grandeur and has been deemed a national heritage site by the Namibian government. Its sites are now open to visitors interested in exploring its history, including an old lighthouse and vast diamond mining ruins. The town has also been home to many different species of animals, such as zebras, ostriches, antelopes, jackals and springbok, which roam freely around the area. For those looking for an off-the-beaten-track destination, Pomona is a great place to visit and provides a unique glimpse into Namibia's history, culture, wildlife and natural beauty.
