Kalkfeld

Kalkfeld is a tiny landlocked town in central Namibia. It is a convenient place to overnight if you are en route to see the ancient dinosaur tracks at Otjihaenamparero, roughly 25 kilometres away. These enormous footprints were indelibly stamped into the sandstone sediment some 170 millions years ago. It is believed they were made by three-toed creatures that walked on their back legs, stood about 1.8 metres high and resembled crocodiles. It is quite a sight to see these fossils and imagine dinosaurs roaming the earth.
